Oktoberfest 2017: Where to Get Your All-You-Can-Drink Beer in Metro Manila

“Anyone can drink beer, but it takes intelligence to enjoy beer.” –Stephen Beaumont

Known as the season for autumn, October has its own fair share of events—regardless of whether the leaves fall and turn into a burnt brick red color or not. Fall may not be one of the seasons of the Philippines, but we celebrate Western holidays such as Halloween much as our American neighbors do. Apart from trick or treating (which is frankly, exclusive to the kids anyhow), adults get their own fair share of fun in October where they get to guzzle inordinate amounts of liquor—all in the name of Oktoberfest. Widely regarded as the beer-guzzling month-long event, Oktoberfest traces its roots as a German festival which commences in September. Furthermore, it was originally intended to commemorate the wedding of King Ludwig I to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen rather than a celebration of beer. But here we are, and in any case, it is an excellent avenue (an excuse) for partying.

From the Oktoberfest happenings held in Circuit Makati to practically anywhere else in Metro Manila, here are the events you must visit all in the name of the world-renown beloved alcoholic beverage:

1.)    Grove Weekend Brews (The Grove by Rockwell)

What better way to honor beer than having a few bottles of locally crafted brew yourself? As of late, our local craft brewers have been a lot more active in perfecting their beer. Over the months, there has been a multitude of local beers taking the liquor scene by storm. Most of them are at par with foreign standards and taste just as crisp and good as their foreign counterparts. Go on a craft-beer journey at the Grove Weekend Brews this October. In here, you can find local beer with kooky names and unorthodox ingredients. From Barik Supremo Lambanog, Engkanto Brewery to Nipa Brew Craft Beers, every bottle of beer you drink will truly be an experience.

2.)    Sofitel and German Club Manila’s 79th Oktoberfest

Are you craving for an authentic Oktoberfest experience much like how they celebrate it in Germany? Or perhaps you just have a hankering for Germany sausages? Well, satiate your appetite and indulge your curiosity without having to leave the country by visiting Sofitel’s Oktoberfest event. Held at the hotel’s Harbor Garden Tent, there is a myriad of things to enjoy apart from the free-flowing beer. To complement your booze, you can enjoy a smorgasbord of various grilled German sausages, pastries, pretzels, pork knuckles and the like. Of course, to make the experience more genuine, the Bavarian Sound Express will be playing traditional Bavarian Songs.

3.)    Oktoberfest (Solaire Resort and Casino)

From October 12-15, Solaire Resort and Casino would be holding Oktoberfest celebrations which include feasting on some of the best German cuisines from their dinner buffet spread complemented by free-flowing Weihenstephaneer beer. For those who wish to dine a little earlier, you can opt for a Bavarian brunch on October 15 from 11:30AM-2:30PM.

4.)    Brotzeit Philippines’ Oktoberfest

For a month-long Oktoberfest celebration, visit German bier bar and restaurant, Brotzeit Philippines. Satisfy your beer cravings with their drink-all-you-can German beer on tap for just Php 1,350+. The price includes traditional German grub such as Bierbeisser (beer-infused pork sausage) and Currywurst. Wash down these German favorites with the staple ice-cold German beer for a truly grand time.

5.)    Drink-All-You-Can-Beer (Relik Restaurant and Bar)

For individuals with a unique taste for locally crafted and brewed beers, head on over to Relik Restaurant and Bar where you can indulge in free-flowing local favorites such as San Miguel Super Dry, San Miguel Premium and Cerveza Negra. You can enjoy this promo for the whole month of October for just Php195 for three hours or P295 for five hours and P345 for unlimited drinking (available only from Wednesday to Saturday).
